Kamusta mo?!?!?

> Hey sa pamilia ug sa mga higala,
>
>
> This week has been wonderful! Thank you for your prayers and letters and packages and support. My sa mga kauban (comps) and I are doing well and enjoying working hard. Per usual, this is going to be jumbled, soooo get ready!
>
> This week we have learned a lot about the atonement and grace vs. works. Its a power topic that i love learning about. We are teaching the Plan of salvation for out task on Thursday so we really dug deep with those topics. If you have time I encourage all of you to look in preach my gospel and see what it says on these topics.
>
> Well, this week we wrote out a slew of questions many people in the world have about our religion. Then we all picked various questions and studied them. Loved that. SO, if you have questions you should send them to me. Cause I would love to hear them and spend time researching and learning.
>
> Sidenote: we go to the temple two days out of the week. Both days it has decided to pour down with snow. So both days i have come back drenched and looking like a wet puppy. sweet.
>
> My teacher Brother morrey should be a stand up comedian. I think i've said that. We learned from him that when teaching a large group of people you should get a huge carrot and stick it in your shirt pocket. Everyone will pay attention to your lesson, gaurenteed. Try it.
>
>
> Random: Freshman year people: Mac Alsbury is a teacher right across the hall from my classroom. Cool, eh?
>
> Last week four new sisters came. They are awesome. I don't see them too much because the yare just in our branch, but we see them at meals and gym and at residence halls. One sister just turned 20..her parents are mission presidents in VA.
>
> On Sunday Janice Kapp Perry came and spoke to the Relief Society. AMAZING. WE all sang a medley of all the songs she wrote for primary. Wow, it was such a special experience. THen we got to meet her after wards and thank her for her incredible influence on our lives and testimony. she was awesome!
>
> My new favorite him is "BRightly Beams our Fathers Mercy"--its an all mens chorus one, but it rocks. Two elders sang it on Sunday.
>
> On Sunday we were all so exhuasted. But we have a fireside so we all went to that and just knew we were going to be Asleep for it...BUT WE WERE WRONG because the two people speaking were the most hilarious awesomest people i've ever met. Sister and Brother Beecher. They served in the Philippines TACLOBAN mission two years ago! My district freaked out when they said that! We were definitly awake for their talk after that. We then realized that there are only 6 OF US IN THE ENTIRE MTC RIGHT NOW GOING TO TACLOBAN. COOL! So , the BEechers are in charge of the humanitarian and welfare missions of the church. They train and coordinate all the missionaries. WOW, i am doing that when i am older. So, they had awesome clips of all the incredible projects the church does: wells for water, wheelchairs for disabled, etc etc. The entire room of missionaries was bawling. Not kidding. It's funny cause the day before my teacher asked us all if we had cried yet in the mtc...bahaha, i was the only one who hadn't! Such a german, thank you very much. :) BUT, after the fireside of humanitarian work in africa and around the world, I joined the crowd. It was so remarkable how the Lord provided miracles for his children. I loved it. My district went up to the Beechers and became fast friends with them. Serioulsy, i want to be them.
>
> Tuesday we had Elder Jensen from the pres. of the seventy come and speak to us. WOw, he is full of information! I really enjoyed his talk about the book of mormon. "Never let a day go by without being in the scriptures."
>
> In reference to the gospel: " You can't make use what you do'nt know." Saturate yourself in the good word of god.
>
> and "teach to learn" missionaries. you are not here to learn to teach.
>
> He was great! We then had a meeting afterwards and all bore our testimonies about the power of the book of mormon. I have so much to learn from it , but such a testimony of its strength. Dad, you sent me a letter that I got the same day as this fireside which was neat because you talked about finnishing the book of mormon. I saw elder reynolds this week on sunday at the temple and he said he read the book of momron in ONE week. CRAZY. I have a goal, but its not that intense...Haha, anyways, I know the book of mormon is the word of god. Open it up if you haven't for a while and give the Lord a chance to answer your questions and guide your life through his scripture. I promise you that you will find a strength and power you didn't know existed as you read it. Promise. :)
>
> The task last week went well. Actually we went in feeling awful and not prepared. But it was remarkable how the spirit literally guided the words taht came out of my mouth. Our lesson went smoothly and the spirit was strong. We got back to our rooms and said a prayer of gratitude. WE needed help and we received it, completely. It was a humbling experience and one that my companions and I will not soon forget.
>
> PLEASE pray for us this week for our task! The cebuano is soooooo tough for me! yikes.
>
> Our district made a goal to be more optimistic ( bahaha i'm sure you all know who suggested that one...get it from my dad...) I mean we were fine with being optimistic, but it was more the fact that each of us would get down on our selves...SO, I encourage all of you too, to make goals and or jump on our bandwagon and be more optimistic. What are some of your highlights of the day??? Miss hearing about those!

letter #3 February 17
Kamusta!
So I got some questions this week I thought I would answer:
Do i feel rested/ or am i tired all the time?? : I am usually okay. Yeah I get tired but it's not bad at all. Except for yesterday. I thought I was going to collapse. But you just keep pluggin along.
Do you feel like you are in provo or in a whole different world: whole different world.
When you leave the MTC to go to the temple do you look around for familiar faces: nope not really.
Do you eat a lot b/c you get 3 full meals a day? : Not really. the food is fine, but not great. I no longer have breakfast, lunch, dinner ...i've moved into the "meals" phase. Don't even know what time it is anymore. I haven't gained any weight at all. Though the elders have gained 8-10 pounds i hear. ALSO, the food at the temple cafeteria is sooooooo good. Just got done eating there. If i had that daily i would gain weight. But i am definitely not starving or anything. I am satisfied.
What the the nights like? We get done with everything by 9:30. We have quiet time at 10:15, lights out by 10:30pm. WE are in our residence halls by 9:30 and hang out with other sisters. We can go around our floor or above, but other than that nothing really. We are all so exhausted by then though we usually chill and snack on foods or write in our journals or something.
Is your body starting to naturally wake up at 5:57am? Uhh, no. My body doesn't like mornings, so there is nothing natural about it for me, but i get up without any problem. I actually don't hear either alarm clocks anymore that my companions set, but i usually can hear sister farnworth getting off the top bunk and that will wake me up.
Do you ever wish you have time to yourself? Yeah, in the sense that I wish i could study late at night by myself. But i am not annoyed with having a companion all the time. And the time we are in our residence hall is to ourself. And gym time if you want it to be you can run alone and lift alone. So its not bad at all.
Things i wish i knew before the mtc: i could have brought waaay more of the clothes i wanted. memorized js vision. .....i'm sure there is more...
How often do i shower: usually daily after gym i rinse off. Shower/ wash my hair every other day or couple days. I am clean here! And obediant. :)
Do you wear your bangs down or pinned back: Both :) haha. and my hair is straight and curly... weird questions mossy. jk
Do the days seem long: Yeah sometimes. Days are long. In the sense that i can't believe allll that happened in the day, but while its going on it doesn't seem long. But I can't even remember this morning. Haha. Weeks are way short though.
Favorite day of the week: probably sunday. or tuesday. or pday. i dunno. or friday cause we have fiestas. i don't know. !
Do you fall right asleep at when its time for bed or lay awake? Fall asleep immediately. always. Including the first night. :)
OKAY! So this week was wonderful! The "task" last wek was hard but we did great. What a blessing! Thank you for all or your prayers. We worked really hard and truly led by the spirit. The task tomorrow is even more difficult (as it should be) and i am worrieddddd. I can not get this language down very well. I know its week three, but i should be able to say things and understand how to say a sentence and it is hard. SO, pray for me plaese! I appreciate all of your prayers and I can feel them so please don't stop. Thursdays are stressful because of the task but then afterwards its the funnest night because everyone is in a good mood and somehow always hilarious. Its really a lot of fun. > > Valentines day was great! Thanks for the packages. My comps appreciated it too! And thanks for the rose dad, and also, I got a package from my achievement day girls! SO THANKS SO MUCH! What a great surprise! > > Other randoms:> My teacher should be a stand up comedian. I can't beleive how hilarious he is. > > Oh, the saddest day of our mtc lives happened on monday. The older Cebuanos left for the field. WOW, so sad. It was a tough day, but we were so excited for them. The cantos and cebuanos are friends and the cantos leave next week too, so us cebuanos will have no onee. > > It was an epic day though and now the baby cebuanos are now the big dogs. With those changes, I have now been called as the "coordinating sister" for our branch. I am in charge of all the s isters in our branch and we get four new ones today. They are english and going to nashville, MO, ca, CO. We won't get new cebuanos until march . THAt means my little district is the only cebuanos in the whole mtc. We are cool. As coordinating sister I am somewhat like the ZLs , but not at the same time. I have to go to all the leadership meetings and work with the ZLs a lot and train the new people. So that should be fun. I really miss the old cebuanos--but man, they were the BEST example we could have ever asked for. All of us loved them so much. > > Elder Jones from the 2nd quorum of the 70 came last night. He and his wife spoke and did great. SHe talked about how total obedience = miraculous help from the HG. He talked about AMmon and he also said a few things that stuck out to me. Also, I want everyone to think of the tender mercies heavenly father gives us each day. > One from our companionship: We were all waaaay sad when our dear cebuanos left on monday. We then had to go straight to dinner. We weren't hungry. Food choices were not good. THEN, my comp remembered there was a filipino cook that works here! Jones and I have been craving grilled cheese for THREE weeks and had no one to get it. SO, she went searching for him and he came out RIGH THEN. She then proceeded to ask him IN CEBUANO if he could make us 2 grilled cheese sandwiches because we had been craving them and had such a sad day! HE said "okay lang!" and came back in 15 min with the best, most perfect GRILLED cheese on wheat (with CHEDDAR cheese) sandwiches and we both talked to him in Cebuano for a bit. He was hilarious! out of the 2000 missionaries he was kind enough to serve two little sister missionaries who needed it. COol, eh!? Cebuano does come in handy!> > Happy birthday becca!> > I saw alex doxey at the temple cafeteria! haha. > > Aaron: thanks for the letter! Can we go shooting when i get back? Give livi, spank, and mac a hug for me. I am praying for their health and safety!> > Kiera--thanks for the letters and the vday package from all of you. My comps appreciated it SO much too! Also, dear elder is a legit letter. haha. > > Jeff Gardner gets home in two days and everyone reading this needs to tell him to write me! I love reading the clips from your journal. keep them coming! how is lisa doing??> > Again, there are many difficulties in life, but search for the tender mercies from our Heavenly Father. they will become so apparent. Keep writing me! I love it lots and lots. > > > wow, i love my companion. i hit escape somehow just now and it deleted everything and my comp just saved my lifeeeeeee. wow. SALAMAT! tender mercy....> > Nahigugma ako ni Jesu Kristo. Nasayud ko nga nagbuhi si Jesukristo ug iyang higugma ako. Tinuod ang ebanghelyo ni Jesukristo. Sister Blonquist's 2nd letter!!!!

i'm really frustrated right now cause i just spent so much time writing you! okay...
LIFE IS STILL AWESOME HERE. I love it here and I am learning lots. We spend 6-10 hours a day in our classroom learning. It's actually been really enjoyable and our schedules move around so its good. I just completed week DUHA! (two) and it's been interesting to reflect on what has changed and what we are learning. Our district is great and I love my companions, but I've definitely seen in myself and others the personal frustrations that are coming out. We are all starting to feel our weaknesses a little and it gets a bit hard. So please keep praying for us to comprehend the language and be able to recognize the spirit guiding us. If you want to pray specifically .....the elders in our district are Nelson, Fisher, Chastain, Akina, Straley, and Tenney..Sisters are Blonquist, Farnworth, and Jones. The language is tough and I am getting the sentence structure but struggling with remembering how to mark the words and focuses and speaking it. It gets annoying that I understand things but can't put them into play...kinda like math. and you know how i love math... hahahaha.
But really, I LOVE IT HERE! We laugh lots and I really appreciate that. I think that is probably something that has surprised me..how much we laugh. I definitely participate in and enjoy that. My teachers are wonderful and we love them and they us.
The other district of cebuanos are leaving monday which will be the saddest day of my life here in the mtc. They have been remarkable and so helpful and willing to serve. The elders have literally spent hours helping us pound out sentence structure and practice. Wow, love them.
Okay I have no time!!!!!!!
Cebuano is not a written language but people have written it phenetically so english people could learn it. Waray is not written at alllll.
Kiera--UM, hello Alarm system ! Let me know how that is goinggggg. Glad you guys are okay. Benson folding his arms?! adorable. keep writing aunt to to, Ben, i love it. Thanks for the package and encouragement and your talk. REALLY appreciate it. love you

He shared a story of Elder Holland's that was so profound. If you want details write me a legit letter and i'll write you one back! :)
Just got back from the temple and really enjoyed it.
Dad, can i get nana and uncle jim's address? I need to send them thank you cards.
I can't wait to look back in 2 years and see how our district has grown, matured, and deepened our relationships with our Savior. Just looking back on a week I have seen the ups and downs and strengths and frustrations. What a great work we are doing here. I LOVE IT and feel so blessed and humbled to be here now and I truly am enjoying it!
OH! Also, our 'task' last week went really well. First time we tried speaking in cebuano i said "i know that jesus christ loves me." Which would be okay to say if i was bearing my testimony in church or something, but i used the form of "me" that was "exclusive" meaning that I know that jesus christ loves me (not including the people we were trying to teach.) bahahaha. oops. But then the second person we talked to in cebuano we all did well and he was a past mtc instructor and was way impressed! Then we taught the restoration lesson and it was good. This week our task is more intense and it's tomorrow and we are slightly freaking out because we have to speak A LOT IN cebuano and teach specifics of the restoration. Love the challenge, per usual! Pray for me to be able to retain allllll that i am learning and be able to speak it. Don't worry i am the only one in the district that can not prounouce "nga" very well. Every teacher has come in and stood in front of me and tried to say it and have me do it. Embarrreasssssdingaslkdfjsdl;a. Embarrassing. But not really, cause I can do it sort of/ sometimes. It's funny. I promise.
anyways! nagpasalamat for all of your prayers and letters and packages! Keep them up. :)
Naghigugma ko ang inyong (i love you all),

Sister Blonquist's 1st letter!!!!
Maayong Butang! (good morning)
*this email is going to be hard to follow:
*thanks cousins for dropping me off at the mtc!
*thanks kiera and benson and josh for writing me! and mags, caity, biancs, dad, aaron!
Things are going well here in the MTC. I LOVE IT....such an understatement, actually. I REALLY love all the letters I've received and the packages URS and NOEL, so thank you or SaLAmat. IT's awesome receiving mail, but difficult because the only day we get to write back is on our P-day: Wednesday. SO! Keep writing me even if you don't hear from me in a while. I absolutely love it here and I am doing really well. My district is wonderful and the Elders are funny and full of great love for the Savior and this gospel. I have TWO, yes TWO companions. It is UNHEARD of for sisters going to the Philippines to have a companion, but there are three of us! Awesome, isn't it!? Their names are Sister Jones and Sister Farnworth. Sister Jones is from Missouri/Idaho and goes to WEber STate, and Sister Farnworth is from West Jordan Utah and goes to UVU. WE are getting along well and really enjoy one another.
Mtc life is incredible. I LOVE IT. Aaron, thanks for telling me to sing in the choir. I made my companions go to practice on Sunday and Tuesday with me and then we found out we were singing at a fireside for Elder Hinckley last night. We sang "Lead Kindly Light. " I LOVED IT. The spirit was strong and it was a lot of fun. There are so. many. elders. here. Sisters are few, but strong. We all have a great time. I love when the whole MTC is together because the boys sing real loud and its great. We sang Called to SErve last night for the first time too.
Lets see:
Sunday we had a singing devotional/fireside which i have never done. Random elders and sisters stood up and said which hymn they'd like to sing and why and we all sang it. pretty cool.
I saw Elder Louk and Elder Blotter and they both seem to be doing well.
I saw my dear MADDY!!! I was searching for her all day the day I got here and then she found out where I was staying somehow and came to my room at night...good thing cause she shipped out the next morning to ARgentina! SO great to see her.
Sisters here are fashionable and adorable and wear accessories. SO all that stress about clothes and I could have worn a LOT of things I didn't think i could have. . . so parents if you want to go through my red bin and find my zip lock of headbands / flower clip that would be sweeeeeeet.
I LOVE GETTING MAIL! Did i say that already? Could someone please write on my blog how to to do "DEar Elder" and maybe on my facebook as well, mags? Dear elder rocks and I think it would be great to get letters from friends and from the achievement day girls that way. or you can give them my address:
Sister Victoria Blonquist
MTC Mailbox 315
PHI-TAC
2005 N. 900 E.
Provo, UT 84604
I would greatly appreciate that. Please let those acheivement day girls know my address and let them know I c an't email them back --only family--but i can get dear elders the same day and i can write them back on wednesdays if they include their address.
Okay, so I love my district of elders. I love my c omps. My zone is awesomeeee. My teachers are incredible. I am learning and growing and understanding so much. It's remarkable the love and unity our district feels for one another already. There is another district that got here in December so they leave in a few weeks for Tacloban and they have been sooooo helpful and hilarious and awesome. I am so excited to serve in the philippines with them. There are 5 sisters total. 2 in the other district, 3 with us. I am senior comp. Branch president and his wife are awesome. Every week they tell us the topic for the next sundays sacrament meeting and every single on of us has to prepare a talk and then they will randomly call 3 people to speak in sacrament meeting right before we have to go up and speak. . .
Schedule: wake up at 5:57 am (sounds like seminary routine... i know) three minutes before 6am work out class starts. This is for sisters only and its awesome--pilates, yoga, aerobics, etc.
*The 6:30-7 get ready
*7-7:30 breakfast
*7:30-11:30 we either have comp study, personal study, and class or gym with those things.
*11:30-lunch
*12:15 class til dinner unless we have MDT or gym or
*4:30 dinner
*5:15 classss or something
I dunno what the schedule is it switches daily which is nice bcause it makes exciting and not mundane.
Did I say I love it. Cause i lovvvvvvve it here. We've really focused on charity and love and the atonement this week and its really expanded and deepened my testimony. Our district is open and talkative and hilarious and we are learning and growing together. Tomorrow I have to "get to know someone" and testify in the Cebuano language. PRAY FOR ME PLEASE. This is a tough language. I am really focusing on having faith for this and no fear. My comps and I are understanding the concepts but its hard to remember sentence structure and all the "ngas" "mgas" "sa" '"si" "ni" "ang" you have to mark beefore the words. its nutssssss. and this language sounds NOTHING like spanish and EVERYTHING like a crazy asian language. i love it. and its really hard for me to pronounce. Palihog (please) pray for me!
My stomach was being weird--post africa style- for the first little bit..i think its due to having three immunizations in one week. Please pray that i can eat normally from now on. Its been frustrating to not be able to eat anything without getting sick . The food here is good. I like it. Always something i like to eat. They have wraps like at byu so i get those constantly.
Our MTC prez said sisters should not look like polygamists or nuns , so look sharp and attractive and business like! Great eh?!?
Also, i neeeed black Thigh highs.
Tomorrow I teach the restoration for the first time too to a 'fake ' investigator.
Life is wonderful. I pray for you all. I really do. I am learning how to pray in the language also. I think of you often and feel so blessed ot know you.
We have a savior. I know this to be true. Nasayud ko nga tinuod kining Simbahan. Nasayud ko ang Dios mao ang akong Amahan Sa Lagit ug ang iyang anak mao si Jesu Kristo. I believe in Jesus Christ and all that he has done for me and you. And i believe Christ when he says he atoned for my sins and pains and struggles and heart aches. He is real. The gospel has been restored and it is a remarkable glorious knowledge we have!
Read the Book of Mormon and love it. learn from it.
i miss you all. Nagpasalamat.
naghigugma ko ang inyong. ( i love you all!)
love,
Sister t. Blonquist
